J. Richard Schien

J. Richard Schien

Founder & Chairman

J. Richard Schien

Founder & Chairman

About Richard: Richard began developing Karmak software after becoming frustrated that the only software he could find to use in his father’s business, Schien Body & Equipment, was modified automotive software that didn’t provide enough functionality. This sparked his inspiration to begin writing software to meet the specific needs of the heavy-duty trucking industry. Richard is proud to say that unlike Apple, Karmak did not start in a garage — it started in a storage closet. Now years later, Karmak is a far cry from the cramped headquarters it once was. Richard’s primary goal as the company moves forward is to assure that the customers are just as pleased with Karmak’s newer software as they were with Legend and INFO5.

Linda Schien

Secretary & Treasurer

Linda Schien

Secretary & Treasurer

About Linda: Linda started with Karmak 15 months after its founding. She became Secretary and Treasurer in 1984, and has been with Karmak ever since. Linda and Richard started Karmak in a makeshift “office” in a storage closet at Schien Body & Equipment. In those early days, Linda used to love to schedule Richard to go out and give demos. His voice carried, so she knew the “office” would be quieter if he was on the road.
